the weekend that sped past

i hate it how the days you have to work always seem to drag itself across, and weekends simply pass you by.

went prawning with maurice and his masculine 'girlfriend' on friday. bf bought me the 1hr rod since it was on promotion. completely hopeless, it only helped me get 1 pathetic prawn. we spent S$68 in all to get 8 prawns. S$8.50 for 1 prawn. concluding that, we should be better off at bishan's pond.

saturday was meant for sleeping. so basically accomplished nothing for the entire day.

meant to do some studying on sunday. dowager has to break the momentum. was dragged out of bed at 1pm. brought her to holland village to change a defective blouse which ought to be done even before CNY ends but it's very unfotch that she has a lazy son. very very lazy son. meant to have late lunch at 'bistro petit salut' located at Taman Warna but it's not open on Sundays. dowager was craving for french cuisine badly, so i suggested 'the french stall' at Little India. bf started driving towards town, but saw Dempsey Road on the way, and of course 'au petit salut'. good lord, why not! that will beat all other french rests flat. took a confusing drive up Dempsey, and finally found the door to 'au petit salut'. NOT OPENED! dang, bad day. but i know there's a culina nearby, so we went in search again. thank goodness it's not a lazy restaurant.

sat down at culina and hunted the menu down for 'foie gras'. i chose terrine de foie gras for my entrée and wild cod fish for main. S.Pellegrino has some oddly nice limonata too. dowager picked this roasted pigeon stuffed with foie gras for main, and ordered a glass of french red (name unknown). bf wanted half dozen of fresh oysters for entrée, tenderloin and S.Pellegrino's blood orange which was forced on him.

all 3 mains were not available.

really, what's wrong with diners nowadays? they just give you the menu, shut their mouth and walk off. they don't even tell us what's valid and what's not. this happened on saturday evening too when we went for supper with maurice. ready to order with nothing left on the menu for us.

so okay fine, change. i took up some ocean trout, dowager requested for a special tenderloin topped with pan-seared foie gras, and bf ordered langoustine (scampi) pasta. done.

bf and i went to shop at the attached culina retail shop. bought 2 pieces of raw foie gras (yes he knows how to cook), 2 chocolate fondant, 1 wagyu beef, and some other nonsense that dowager wants. saw that the ocean trout is red meat, i freaked out. so when we sat down and the food is served, i asked bf to swap with me. and that was a good swap. the pasta was good. by the time we left the place, it was pouring like never before.
